TAMPA – For the second week in a row, Maurice Stovall will get the starting nod over a healthy Michael Clayton at wide receiver for the Bucs.
Clayton returned from a knee injury in time for last week’s game against the Saints but was used sparingly and caught just one pass.
Clayton will be active for today’s game but and while his knee problem may still be an issue the decision to start Stovall ahead of him may be an indication that the Bucs now believe Stovall is a better option for them at the position.
Leading the list of inactives for the Bucs for Sunday’s game is RB Derrick Ward, who has been slowed by knee and thigh problems the last two weeks.
Ward missed the last few snaps of last week’s game against the Saints as well, forcing the Bucs to lean almost exclusively on Cadillac Williams.
Williams responded well, running for 129 yards in the Bucs stunning 20-17 victory at the Louisiana Superdome.
The Bucs are expected to lean on Williams again today but may also go to Kareem Huggins.
The other Bucs inactives today will be QB Rudy Carpenter, CB De’Von Hall, WR Mark Bradley, WR Mario Urrutia, TE Ryan Purvis, T James Lee and WR Terrence Nunn.
