Brett Dietz threw for more than 300 yards and receivers Tyrone Timmons and Hank Edwards each topped the 100-yard mark, but it wasn’t enough for Tampa Bay to post a season-opening win in Tulsa.
The host Talons, who got eight touchdown passes from quarterback Justin Allgood, knocked off the visiting Storm, 69-58, Saturday night at the BOK Center.
Timmons, a local product from Tampa Bay Tech, posted game and career highs with 11 receptions for 181 yards and five touchdowns. Edwards finished with nine receptions for 137 yards and three scores.
Dietz completed 25 of 44 passes for 346 yards, eight touchdowns and one interception.
Tampa Bay is off next week. The Storm return to the field April 16 for their home opener against Dallas.
