Storm announces new ownership group in letter to fans

The Tampa Bay Storm has announced the new ownership group for the team in an open letter to fans.

The letter, posted on the team’s website, lists four partners - Todd Boren, Steven Jones, Michael O’Quinn and Robert Dison. Boren introduces himself as the Team President and Managing Partner.

When it was announced the AFL was returning to Tampa, it was stated during a news conference at the time that the team would be co-owned by the league and the Tampa Bay Lightning/St. Pete Times Forum.

Storm media relations director Jim Robinson said the Boren group has purchased a majority interest in the team and that the league no longer has a stake in the team. Robinson was unclear whether the Tampa Bay Lightning/St. Pete Times Forum was still part of the overall ownership group.

According to Robinson:

Boren is a licensed investment banker and the current owner of money-managing firm Pinnacle Financial Group, which has offices in Orlando and Bermuda.

O’Quinn is a partner at the Orlando-based law group Fowler, O’Quinn, Feeney & Sneed.

Jones is a partner in Church Street Concepts, which owns and operates several bars, nightclubs and restaurants in the Orlando area.

Dison is resident of St. Petersburg and a real estate and business management consultant.

Tampa Bay, which opened training camp last week, plays its only preseason game Friday night at home against the Orlando Predators. Free admission is being offered to all fans and there will be reduced prices on many concession items. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Storm’s regular season begins April 3 at Tulsa. The team’s first regular-season home game is April 16 against Dallas.
