Sophomore forward Demi Stokes scored her team-leading third goal of the season to help the University of South Florida women’s soccer team top Akron, 1-0, on Friday night at the Corbett Soccer Stadium in Tampa.
Stokes’ goal came in the 63rd minute and was aided by a great showing from the Bulls defense, which limited Akron to just four shots, none of which were on goal.
It was the second consecutive shutout for USF (3-2-1), which played to a scoreless draw with Murray State on Sunday, and third total in the first five games on this season-long seven game homestand.
USF returns to action Sunday against Jacksonville.
