I know it’s been a busy day, but wanted to make sure to pass along the fact that Hockey’s Future has selected Steven Stamkos as the No. 1 prospect in it’s annual Top 50 list to start the season.

STAMKOS

Good to see him ranked ahead of Price and Turris. Let’s hope he produces better than them as well…

After watching Stamkos in the Sun game, 2 things were immediately clear. This kid is quick as a heartbeat, and the rest of the guys better pick up the pace. Two plays in the 3rd period stood out. 1st was on a PP when he rocketed a shot that Lundqvist blocked and no one was in front for the rebound ... I don’t think his teammates were expecting a shot. 2nd was when he carried the puck from the blue line down the right side with a D-man hanging off him and managed a GOOD wrister, while skating full speed. Some might say he needs to wait for the play to set up. I say the others better be ready to kick it in gear so they can take advantage of some rebound goals and help themselves to some assists. I liked his physical play too. Go kid GO!
