Hard to believe, but somebody actually turned down Steve Yzerman’s offer to join the Lightning organizatation. After speaking over the past couple of weeks, Ryan Martin has turned down the chance to become an assistant general manager with the Lightning and will instead remain with the Red Wings as the director of hockey operations, where essentially he is Detroit’s capoligist. You can read the story from a posting this afternoon at the Detroit Free Press
Not sure where Yzerman turns now to find his “capologist’’ but one name that has come up is Damian Echevarrieta, from the NHL’s hockey operations department, a name that was brought up by former Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Jay Feaster in the past few weeks.
