Steinbrenner’s boys soccer team is under FHSAA investigation for possibly having an illegal player athletic director Eddie Henderson confirmed Tuesday afternoon.

Henderson said he could not go into details or discuss which player was ineligible pending the results of the investigation by the FHSAA, but did confirm the Warriors have been dropped from the No. 1 seed to the No. 6 seed in next week’s 4A-8 boys district soccer tournament.

“I don’t have any details right now,” Henderson said. “What I can say is someone contacted the FHSAA and they alerted us and we filed a self report.”

Henderson did not comment on whether the team would have to forfeit any regular season matches. The Warriors are 10-1-2 and were ranked fourth in last week’s Hillsborough County Coaches’ soccer poll.
