LAKELAND The Tampa Prep volleyball team lost in three sets, 25-18, 25-20, 25-10, to Orlando First Academy in the Class 2A state volleyball championship on Saturday.
Senior Latora Lofgren led the Terrapins (18-11) with 13 kills and 10 digs while senior setter Caroline Dillabough had 17 assists. Kelly Merideth and Ansley Gebben led Orlando with 16 and 11 kills, respectively.
“They gave me three amazing months,” said a sobbing Tampa Prep coach Mike Flynn after the match.
This is the farthest Tampa Prep has been since 2004, when it won the 2A state championship.
