Academy of the Holy Names standout two-sport athlete and freshman Sidney Brown will transfer to district rival Berkeley Prep after the school year, Holy Names volleyball coach and Brown’s AAU travel coach, Jeff Davis confirmed.
Brown, an outside hitter in volleyball, was one of 25 finalists for the PrepVolleyball.com National Freshman of the Year Award. Brown finished this past season with 292 kills for the Jaguars.
Brown has also been selected to the USA Volleyball Indoor National A1 team, which is the top High Performance team for her age division (athletes born 1996 and 1997). Brown is one of 29 athletes across the country selected to the team. Brown will attend a 10-day training camp and compete in the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships in Tucson, Arizona July 20-30.
During the softball season, Brown, a pitcher, led the Jaguars to a district championship. Brown almost pitched a perfect game against Berkeley Prep in the district tournament semifinals to see her team secure a region playoff berth.
