Spoto High product Andre Jones, a Class 3A district champion in the 200-meter dash last season for the Spartans, has made a verbal commitment to the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Spoto coaches Aaron Prather and Sonja McCoy announced.
“Andre really worked hard this season and deserves to be running at the next level,” Prather said. “Andre did the work and Coach McCoy did a great job searching for schools and working her contacts at the collegiate level to find him this scholarship.”
Jones was one of just two Hillsborough County athletes to crack 22 seconds for the 200 last spring. He was also a key member of a Spartans 4x400 relay squad that finished second at the district finals.
