Hillsborough senior tailback Lindsey Lamar, who has already topped the 1,000-yard rushing mark this season, received his first scholarship offer from a Southeastern Conference school when the University of South Carolina made an official bid late Monday.
“I’m very excited about it,” said Lamar, who gained 174 yards and scored two TDs Friday against Plant. “I’m just going to wait and see who else will make an offer but it’s good getting something from the SEC and a program like South Carolina.”
Lamar also has offers from Clemson, Duke, Wake Forest, South Florida and Iowa State. A standout sprinter in track and field, Lamar also has separate track offers from Georgia, Florida State and the University of Southern California. Lamar says he plans to make an official visit to South Carolina Nov. 7.
