Closer Rafael Soriano made his Rays debut in the sixth inning today and after blowing away the first two batters, made things interesting by putting runners on second and third before getting the final out.
Soriano, who said he needs only seven outings to get ready for the season, replaced James Shields. He looked great striking out Nick Punto and Jason Kubal.
Soriano then hit Michael Cuddyer in the leg.
Former Ray Delmon Young turned a bloop single into a double with some hustle seldom seen by Rays fans.
With runners on the corner, Soriano ended his day by getting Wilson Ramos to line out to Justin Ruggiano in right field.
