Softball: Newsome’s Brooks picks University of Tampa

Newsome senior second baseman Chelsey Brooks has verbally committed to the University of Tampa, Newsome head softball coach Dawn Vanella announced Tuesday.
As a junior, Brooks batted .299 with 20 hits, 16 RBIs and nine RBIs. She also had four stolen bases and owned a .915 fielding percentage with 41 put-outs and six errors.
Newsome went 23-6 last season. The University of Tampa softball team went 27-13 last season and lost in the first round of the NCAA Division II tournament.
