The University of South Florida women’s basketball team held its end of the year banquet on Sunday, and junior guard Andrea Smith and senior forward Leondra Doomes-Stephens were named the Bulls offensive and defensive player of the year.
Smith led the Bulls in scoring, averaging 16.5 points per game, which also was the third-best mark in the Big East Conference. She was a second team All-Big East pick, but her season ended on a sour note when she went down with a torn ACL early in a season-ending loss to Pittsburgh in an opening round game at the Big East tournament.
Doomes-Stephens often was relied upon to play against the oppositions top scoring threat. She finished third on the team in blocked shots and fifth on the team in steals.
Here is the list of all the award recipients:
Offensive Player of the Year: Andrea Smith
Defensive Player of the Year: Leondra Doomes-Stephens
Rebounder of the Year: Porche Grant
Miss Dish Award: Kaneisha Saunders
Most Improved Player: Andrell Smith and Akila McDonald
Golden Bulls Coaches Award: Aleshia Flowers
