+ On Father’s Day, we ran a story on the relationship between first-year USF football coach Skip Holtz and his father, Lou. Click here to check out how the two compare.

+ USF men’s basketball players Toarlyn Fitzpatrick and Mike Burwell have settled their dine-and-dash case, but they won’t play in the Bulls’ first game next month in the Pan American Championships in Brazil. Click here to read the story.

+ In ESPNTheMagazine’s second annual NBA mock draft conducted by current NBA players, Magic point guard Jameer Nelson sees Orlando taking USF guard Dominique Jones with the 29th overall pick.

“You always want guys with a knack for filling up the basket, and that’s something Jones can do,’’ Nelson says. “I’m sure we’ll be put over the edge by our pick. Once he learns the pro game, DJ is a guy who could keep us there.’’

+ With 2010 incoming center Waverly Austin failing to qualify academically, USF men’s basketball coach Stan Heath is making a late push to land Queen City (N.C.) Prep’s Jerome Hunter, a Robert Morris commitment until coach Mike Rice recently left to replace Fred Hill at Rutgers.
