Sickles senior point guard Jordan Davis verbally committed to Division I Monmouth University on Monday, Sickles coach Renaldo Garcia said.
Davis, a 5-foot-10 point guard and four-year stater, leads the Gryphons with 18.5 points and 7.5 assists per game.
“Since Christmas, they’ve been coming down to see him,” Garcia said. “They’ve seen him play numerous times.”
Monmouth plays out of the Northeast Conference and has made the NCAA tournament four times, its most recent trip being 2006 when the program won its first tournament game.
“He really likes their style of play,” Garcia said. “They wanted a true point guard and they like his passing ability.”
Davis is ranked by ESPN as one of the top point guards in Florida and the 108th overall point guard in the nation. He recently surpassed the 1,000 career point milestone and has lead Sickels to three consecutive district titles.
