Two of Hillsborough County’s top power hitters are scheduled to participate in fourth annual International Power Showcase, a high school home run derby that features some of the top power hitters for the U.S. and abroad.
Gaither senior outfielder Drew Doty and Brandon senior catcher/first baseman Roderick Shoulders are two of the 75 participants that will be swinging for the fences Sunday at Tropicana Field.
Doty was arguably Hillsborough County’s top power hitter last season after batting .432 with 22 extra-base hits, including a county-best 10 home runs. Shoulders missed most of his junior season after suffering a torn labrum, but showed his pop during his sophomore year, when he hit six home runs.
