Manager Joe Maddon confirmed the Rays starting pitching rotation for the American League Division Series this afternoon, naming James Shields (14-8) as the starter for Thursday’s Game 1.
Scott Kazmir (12-8) will start Game 2 on Friday, Matt Garza (11-9) gets Game 3 on Sunday and Andy Sonnanstine (13-9) will start Game 4 on Monday.
Maddon did not announce his bullpen, but Edwin Jackson (14-11), the Rays’ fifth starter, told Rays beat writer Marc Lancaster that he is not on the postseason roster.
Games 1 and 2 are at home and Games 3 and 4 (if necessary) are on the road.

Jackson either starts, or he’s not on the roster. He cannot pitch out of the pen.A reliever HAS to throw strikes and not be walking batters, especially in the playoffs.
