University of South Florida DE George Selvie wants 20 sacks this year. He also wants something more. “It’s all about winning,” Selvie said. “That’s all that matters.”
Here’s Joe Henderson’s column on Selvie that ran in Friday’s Tampa Tribune.
BCS’ BEST BARGAIN: I had a note on the blog the other day about how tickets to a USF game were the best bargain in college football. Well, apparently that wasn’t enough. So the Tribune’s Ted Jackovics and myself took an in-depth look at the best bargain in college football, that will appear in Saturday’s Tampa Tribune on Page 1A (that would be the front page).
TAILGUNNER JOE & THE EARLS OF SLANDER: That’s right: Tailgunner Joe & The Earls of Slander are fully aboard the Bulls’ bandwagon. The band, from the Tampa Bay area, has a video spliced in with clips of USF’s games last year at Palestra.net.
The site ranks college football’s Top 25 teams with a local band performing a song mixed with highlights of a Top 25 team. The Bulls rank No. 14 in the Palestra.net rankings – that, unfortunately, are not factored into the BCS rankings. Here’s the video of Tailgunner Joe & The Earls of Slander performing “The Street” in the parking lot of the Sun Dome.
MOFFITT CUT: Former USF LB Ben Moffitt, an undrafted free agent, was cut by the Houston Texans Friday. He had 13 tackles in the Texans’ loss to the Bucs Thursday. That leaves only CBs Mike Jenkins (Dallas) and Trae Williams (Jacksonville) as the only remaining USF rookies on NFL rosters.

Eric, thanks for the info. I saw they had the My Space page. Too bad, they couldn’t have gotten into RJS to film the video. Oh well, maybe their next one.

Tailgunner Joe and the Earls of Slander are an awesome local band, and they are even more awesome because they are Bulls supporters.
If you liked that song, then check out some of their other songs at their myspace page -> http://www.myspace.com/theearlsofslander
You can also check out some photos I took of them at my blog -> http://stardogcafe.blogspot.com/2008/08/tailgunner-joe-and-earls-of-slander-at.html

I’m glad USF is on the front page of the trib, especially with a story about the bulls being the best bargain in college football.

quotes from tennnesee martin coach
Simpson says he very excited about his 2008 Skyhawks. “We have depth and athleticism. I like the team chemistry and I like their maturity.”
As the Skyhawks make the trek to Tampa, most of them will remember how fall camp opened and watching the documentary on Appalachian State’s journey to Michigan and the great upset over the host Wolverines.
“We would love to see a similar result Saturday night
