A couple of Gators received recognition this week for their performances on the basketball court.

The Southeastern Conference named Jennifer George to this year’s All-Freshman Team and announced that Bridgett Pettis, a member of the 1993 All-SEC team, will join the 2010 class of the SEC Greats.

Pettis, along with the other 11 members of the team, will be honored during the conference tournament at The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga. Her ceremony will take place March 4 during halftime when the No. 7-seeded UF (14-15) plays No. 10-seeded Auburn (14-15). Pettis led the Gators to the school’s first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 1993.

George is the only Gator to receive All-Conference accolades this season. She led UF in SEC games for offensive rebounds and ranked second for steals and blocks.

“Coach Butler, Coach Gardner, my teammates, everyone has really helped me this year improve every day,” said George.
