Gulf tight end/defensive end Leon Orr’s season could be over after further tests on his high ankle sprain reveled a broken bone in his leg, Gulf coach Jay Fulmer said Monday.
“He just wasn’t healing right and when he went back for more tests, the break was discovered,” Fulmer said. “The doctor said he would be out a minimum of four weeks which would only leave two weeks left in the regular season.”
Orr has committed to the University of Florida and if Gulf (3-1, 0-1 in Class 3A-) isn’t in position to make the playoffs, if might not be necessary for Orr to return to the lineup.
The loss is yet another blow for the Buccaneers. They only dressed 24 players in their 35-14 loss to Sunlake last Friday and a Gulf player was ejected for throwing a punch so Fulmer only expects to dress 23 this Friday at undefeated Land O’ Lakes.
