Saturday game (sorta) sold out

The Rays tell us Saturday’s game is sold out, though there are scattered single and obstructed-view seats available.
And no, this does not constitute a sudden uptick in support for the first-place Rays. You can chalk it up to the combination of a postgame Trace Adkins hoedown and a trucker hat giveaway.
Now, if they get 28,000 in here Sunday, I’ll stand corrected. But I’ll also believe it when I see it. There are plenty of empty seats in here tonight.

WTF was that Marc? Were you not there last Saturday when there were over 30K at the game? The Saturday games are popular for those of us on this side of the bridge that have a hard time making it during the week.
Go back to Kentucky errrrr….Cincinnati. That is about as arrogant a blog post as you will ever see from a so called journalist. Ignorant too.

Mike, the leaders of the AL East and Central have played the last two nights before a TOTAL of 27,315 fans.
My post certainly wasn’t a cricism of those attending Saturday’s game. The point was simply that the fact that the game is sold out shouldn’t be taken as an indication the overall attendance numbers are ready to jump.

I was at the rubber game on Wednesday between the Rangers and Rays and for them to get 10k for a 12:40pm Wednesday game and just 12k-14k for a 7:10pm weekday/Friday night game is pathetic. It’s obvious that the majority of baseball fans in Tampa aren’t Rays fans because if they were, they’d drive from anywhere in the area to see them play. I’m sick of the excuses. Real fans are few and far between. Go Rays.

Seriously??? Saturday games have been doing well this year. If this was a one game anomaly I would agree with you. I think you are way off the “Marc” with you assessment.(pun intended obviously)

It’s a shame it takes a performance by a country singer to sell out a baseball game. Half the people at this game aren’t even Ray’s supporters. They are just there to get a cheap ticket to a concert.

Marc, for once I agree with you 100%.
Suggest removalThanks for echoing my point from a previous post. Go Rays!

I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT AN ARTICAL IS IN THE PAPER ABOUT GROUNDS KEEPERS BUT NOTHING ABOUT THE PITCH HIT AND RUN FOR YOUNG PEOPLE THAT WAS HELD YESTERDAY 05/31/2008. OR AT LEAST I CAN’T FIND IT… I GUESS ITS MORE INTERESTING ABOUT CUTTING GRASS THAN KIDS DOING SOMETHING GO. CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE TO FIND IT….

25K showed up Sunday, which is not quite 28K, but still a validation, I think. I should at least be obvious that a mid-week series against the Rangers (with a noon o’clock game on Wednesday!) is not a good gauge of fan enthusiasm.
