Tampa Bay’s Lawrence Samuels was named the league’s Ironman of the Week following his performance in the Storm’s victory Saturday over Los Angeles, the team’s final game of the 2008 season.
Samuels had a game-high 11 receptions for 99 yards and two touchdowns on offense, added an interception on a deflected pass on the Avengers’ opening drive of the game and swatted away a fourth-down pass attempt on Los Angeles’ second offensive possession, forcing a turnover on downs.
It is the third time this season Samuels earned the league’s weekly Ironman award, tied with Dallas’ Will Pettis for the most in the league this season.
