Just hours after the New Orleans Saints signed Storm defensive lineman Tim McGill, the NFL-team decided to bring in another Tampa Bay player - receiver Hank Edwards.
Edwards is headed to New Orleans for a tryout, according to the Storm’s media relations department. If he impresses, he could end up in training camp with the Saints.
Edwards enjoyed a monster season with Tampa Bay in 2008, leading the team in receiving yards (1,348) and touchdown receptions (30) while finishing second on the team in receptions (85). Tampa Bay rewarded him with a new contract extension after the season that will keep him in Tampa Bay through the 2010 season.
If Edwards is signed by the Saints he will be placed on the Other League Exempt list, which means the Storm will control his rights when/if he returns to the AFL.
