Midfielder Stanley Nyazamba is the newest member of the FC Tampa Bay Rowdies after the club signed him to a contract last week, bringing the club’s roster to 21.
The 27-year-old was among 24 players working out on the opening day of the club’s first training camp, and was very happy to be part of the new team.
“They’ve recruited a lot of good players,” Nyazamba said. “It’s exciting. I’ve been in Tampa since I came to America, my agent (Farrukh Quraishi) is a former Rowdie, so I’ve been hearing a lot about the Rowdies, excited to just continue the tradition that’s been going on.”
Rowdies head coach Paul Dalglish said he was pleased to have Nyazamba on board with the team.
“Stanley was a player who did really, really well the first day of our second combine,” Dalglish said. “Picked up a bit of an injury and struggled day two and day three, but I think he did enough day one to earn a contract. He showed today that when he’s fully fit, he’s going to be an incredible player for us.”

That’s great news! It’s interesting to see how the team’s connections are helping them, not only is Quraishi a former Rowdie, his wife Lisa Brock’s PR firm has been doing work for the team. It’s also nice to see Ryan Thompson at camp. One thing I was wondering, Nick. Is Jeremy Christie in camp? I know he was hoping to make New Zealand’s WC squad this year, but doesn’t appear on the tentative roster for this week’s friendly against Mexico in Calif. What do you think of his chances?

Actually just included some notes on Christie and some of the other foreign players, including Takuya Yamada as well.
Four of the Rowdies foreign players are still waiting for their paperwork to get processed, and Scott Buete is still with his MISL team in Baltimore, so it wasn’t a full compliment of under-contract players at camp today. The clud is just going to be patient and wait for things to move along, since it’s currently out of their hands.

Watching the Mexico/NZ game now, and you are correct, BrandonSoccerFan…Christie is not in the team for NZ! Kinda feel like they wouldve brought him along for this one? Hope he (and the others) can get their visas worked out!
