Rockies select Armwood product Simon

University of Tampa outfielder Jared Simon, an Armwood High product, was selected Tuesday by the Colorado Rockies in the sixth round (200th overall) in the 2010 MLB draft.
Simon, a junior, hit .361 and led the Spartans in doubles (22), home runs (12) and RBIs (66) this past season. He was a first-team All-Sunshine State Conference pick, the second consecutive year he’s earned that honor.
