According to the inimitable Stacy Long of the Montgomery Advertiser, Rocco Baldelli will join the Biscuits on Wednesday to continue his indefinite rehab stint.
Baldelli has played for Vero Beach the last two days, going 1-for-4 with a couple of strikeouts today after a 1-for-4 showing yesterday, both as the DH. Those were his first appearances since being pulled off an earlier rehab assignment with Vero on June 30 after he suffered a mild right groin strain.
Speaking of Vero, Al Reyes served up a two-run homer in the first inning today in what was scheduled to be his final rehab appearance. He is expected to come off the disabled list Friday and probably will take the roster spot cleared when Reid Brignac was optioned back to Durham following yesterday’s game.

This is an excellent move. It costs us nothing, we can still pursue Nady, Bay or whomever since Rocco does not have a restricted roster spot. If he can regain his form, he would be an upgrade on any of the RH outfielders they are looking at, and we already have him.

MY TWO FAVORITES ARE LONGO // ROCCO AND I’D LIKE ROCCO TO GET ONE LAST CHANCE. HOWEVER,IT APPEARS TOO LATE FOR HIM. SO, I HOPE HE DOES ENOUGH FOR THE BISCUITS TO LAND WITH ANOTHER TEAM FOR 2009 OR JUST RETIRE WITH A COUPLE MILLION AND SUPPORT THE RAYS <> PLUS, I HOPE JOE IS NOT SAVING A SPOT FOR ROCCO WHEN WE NEED A [RF]NOW ! BRING BAY TO TAMPA BAY .. JASON BAY !!!

Can’t Rocco be released? I feel for him but geez, after that 7 game losing streak I think we need some solid bats to get over the hurdles we have up north.

Haven’t we been serving up enough long balls?

BACK AGAIN MARC : ROCCO WILL NEED TO BE VERY CONSISTENT TO HAVE A SHOT NOW <> NAGY OF THE PIRATES IS HITTING FOR A GOOD AVERAGE WITH SOME LONG BALL BUT THE OTHER PIRATE JASON BAY HAS HAD SOME GREAT YRS WITH 30+ HOMERS <> HE IS ON A PACE FOR 30 MORE AND STEALS BASES 6 FOR 6, PLUS A 21 SB SEASON <> WHAT A LIFT IF WE HAD PENA-LONGO-BAY <> WE COULD TRADE 2 PITCHERS BUT NOT PRICE !!
