Robinson senior defensive lineman D.J. Woods has verbally committed to Savannah State, a Football Championship Subdivision program, Knights coach Mike DePue said Monday.
Woods, who finished with 51 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 2009 while helping the Knights reach the Class 2A state semifinals, made an official visit to the Savannah State campus this weekend.
DePue said Woods is receiving a lot of interest from Stony Brook, another FCS program, and is keeping his options open for the moment. The coach added Woods may wait until after National Signing Day to sign a letter-of-intent.
Also, senior lineman Quinton Preston made an official visit over the weekend to Assumption College, a Division II program in Massachusetts. DePue said Preston, who also has garnered interest from Division II Northwood University in Michigan, is waiting to see what kind of package Assumption can put together.
