Robinson’s Preston makes pick

Robinson senior defensive lineman Quinton Preston signed on Thursday with Assumption College, a Division II program located in Worcester, Mass.

Preston, who is 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds, was a four-year starter for the Knights. He was an All-Western Conference first-team pick as a senior, and he finished the 2009 season with 57 tackles, two sacks and two fumble recoveries.

“Assumption has been high on Quinton since last fall. They really did a great job recruiting him,” Robinson coach Mike DePue said. “It’s going to be a real good fit for him up there. It’s a great academic school.”

Preston is the second Knights senior to sign with a collegiate program. Defensive lineman D.J. Woods previously signed with Illinois.
