Robinson will have a new quarterback under center when they take on Lennard Friday night.
Knights starting quarterback Antonio Hampton is no longer on the team.
Robinson coach Mike DePue confirmed Hampton was removed from the team after violating a team rule. The junior quarterback will be replaced in the starting lineup by Vidal Woodruff when Robinson (2-1) faces Lennard (1-2).
“He has been removed from the team for his failure to meet expectations,’’ DePue said. “I have team standards and team rules.’’
In three games this season, Hampton has thrown for 242 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions and rushed for one touchdown.
It’s not all doom and gloom for the Knights this week. They received good news that injured wide receiver Ethan Kindle will return to action and so will starting offensive lineman Brooks Lovely.
Also, junior athlete Carlos Duclos, who suffered a broken tibia in the first game of the season, could be back after the Knights bye week on Oct. 7.
