The Tampa Bay Storm made a few roster moves Monday, the most notable of which was signing receiver/return man Sedrick Robinson.
Robinson, the AFL’s all-time leader in kick retun yardage, was with the Storm when the AFL folded. His acquisition means quarterback Brett Dietz now has three of his four primary targets from the 2008 season back in the fold, with longtime veteran Lawrence Samuels the only one not presently on the roster.
That could still change, however, as Storm coach Tim Marcum said Samuels, one of the best players in AFL history, could join the team at a later date. Samuels’ job conflicts with the Storm’s morning training camp workout schedule. There isn’t a pressing need with him to be in camp, considering his longevity in the league, his understanding of the game and his familiarity with the playbook.
The Storm also signed veteran defensive lineman Kelvin Kinney on Monday, adding another experienced pass rusher to a defensive line that already included nose guard Tim McGill and Jermaine Smith. Kinney also was with the Storm in 2008.
Tampa Bay also cut three players Monday: offensive linemen Carnell Stewart and Cornelius Fuamatu, receiver Paul Raymond.
