Tampa Bay Storm public relations coordinator Jim Robinson is headed to the ArenaBowl in New Orleans to assist the AFL’s media relations department for the week of the league’s championship game.
Robinson said he was among four public relations coordinators leaguewide to be selected to assist the league’s public relations department for the game. Robinson, who will spend a week in New Orleans, said he was unsure of the capacity in which he would serve.
Robinson added Storm-ONE, the custon chopper built by V-Force Customs that was displayed during Tampa Bay’s final home game in 2008 and will later by auctioned off via raffle at the end of the 2009 season, will also be on display at the ArenaBowl.
The league championship games are scheduled for Saturday. Philadelphia (14-3) hosts Cleveland (11-7) in the National Conference championship at 1 p.m., while San Jose (12-5) hosts Grand Rapids (8-10) in the American Conference championship at 3:30 p.m. Both games will be televised live on ESPN.
The winners of the conference championship games then meet in ArenaBowl XXII on July 27 in New Orleans.
Tampa Bay played all four teams still alive in the postseason during the 2008 regular season. The Storm went 2-2 in those matchups, winning against Cleveland (58-48) and Grand Rapids (58-50) while losing to Philadelphia (51-59) and San Jose (73-70).
