The Robinson Knights football team will be playing with heavy hearts when they open district play against Middleton Friday night.

The school was rocked Thursday morning with the news that teacher and cheerleading coach Tina Maiorana had passed away. Knights coach Mike DePue said “you could hear a pin drop” at the school.
“She was very popular,” DePue said. “Some of my football players are taking this very hard because she mentored them.”
Maiorana helped guide the Robinson cheerleaders to a Top 10 finish at January’s Western Conference Cheerleading Championships.
According to the Robinson website, Maiorana taught business technology education and earned her master’s degree from USF. DePue said plans are in the works to honor Maiorana during Friday night’s game.
