Riverview sophomore baseball player Justin Rose has been selected to play in the 2010 Under Armour Preseason All-America Tournament, Sharks coach Bill Leiby said Tuesday.
The invite-only event, a 20-team wood bat tournament, will be held Jan. 15-17 at the Kino Sports Complex in Tuscon, Ariz. Players are selected for the event based on a strong performance at a previous Baseball Factory or Team One Event, or recommendation by a pro scout, according to information posted on teamonebaseball.com.
Rose appeared in 15 games for the Sharks as a freshman, hitting .292. Leiby said Rose, who is penciled in as Riverview’s starting second baseman, had a very strong summer.
