River Ridge safety Marco Custodio was selected as the Old Spice Red Zone Player of the Week.
River Ridge assistant Jesse Hoolihan told Red Zone: “Marco Custodio has been a first year impact player for us as a free safety. Marco was a transfer who has filled in the leadership role nicely for us. Everyday he comes to work hard and play hard and this week it showed. Marco accumulated 15 total tackles from the safety position. Marco had five solo tackles and 10 assisted in the game and our opponent only completed [one pass] all game. Marco’s stellar effort allowed him to have 15 tackles because his heart and desire to never quit on any play.”
Last week, River Ridge (0-3) lost a tight contest to Mitchell, 16-10. In that game, the Mustangs completed one of three passes for nine yards.
The Red Zone Player of the Year program recognizes varsity football players throughout the nation and is based on performance, leadership and will to win. At the end of the season, one player from each school is nominated and becomes a possible candidate for the selection as a Red Zone Player of the Year.
