Riggans to DL
Posted Jun 4, 2007 by Aaron Knox
Updated Jun 4, 2007 at 06:53 PM
C Shawn Riggans (right elbow tendinitis) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday. Veteran Raul Casanova, who replaced Riggans as the starter in Triple-A Durham when Riggans was promoted on May 24, was added to the 40-man roster and will join the Rays in Toronto.
To make room for Casanova, LHP Chris Seddon of Double-A Montgomery was designated for assignment.

Say it a’int so. A team without any catchers? Paul and Riggans on the DL leaves the Rays with pitiful Navarro
and Raul Casanova? I think Casanova
was a high school teammate of Joe Maddon’s. I have Casanova’s rookie
catchers star card, the other catcher featured is Johnny Bench.
Just when so many things are coming together, the Rays do not have a catcher
Suggest removalin their immeadiate system. Remember when the Rays traded Chad Gaudin for Kevin Cash? I don’t know where Cash is,
but Gaudin is 6-1.
