ST. PETERSBURG The Rays recalled INF Will Rhymes today.
Rhymes replaces RHP Josh Lueke, who was sent down after Wednesday’s game. Lueke had been recalled Tuesday to add depth to the bullpen after the Rays 15-inning loss to the A’s on Monday. To make room for Lueke, INF Brooks Conrad was optioned to Durham on Tuesday.
In 45 games with the Rays this season, Rhymes is batting .233 with one home run and eight RBI. He has played second base and third base.
