As promised on Monday, the Rochester Rhinos announced a pair of new signings on Tuesday in the shape of forward Anthony Hamilton and midfielder Isaac Kissi.
Hamilton played in 2009 with the Ventura Fusion of the USL’s Premier Development League, and scored eight goals in 16 games for the side. Kissi, a native of Ghana, was a third-round pick of Chivas USA in this year’s SuperDraft, 42nd overall.
In other domestic news, the New York Red Bulls are among the MLS teams currently in Bradenton for training camp. The club’s official blog, the Red Bulls Reader had this summary of their second day of workouts at the facility that is also the home to the U.S. Under-17 Residency Program, and a short interview with Tampa’s Jeremy Hall.
Hall played for Hillsborough County United before being drafted into the Residency Program, and then went on to the University of Maryland before being selected in the first round of last year’s MLS Draft. It appeats he’ll have a chance to blossom in a more attacking role in his sophomore season with the Red Bulls after spending most of his rookie season at full back.
Internationally, the news isn’t great on Benny Feilhaber who is expected to be out for a few, unspecified, weeks after the scan on his ankle came back. That could rule him out of the U.S. Exhibition against Holland, but with Feilhaber’s experience, the concensus appears is it is doubtful it will put his spot for South Africa in jeopardy.
Elsewhere, the U.S. Men’s National Team is expected to arrive in Tampa on Sunday ahead of their game against El Salvador next Wednesday, and it will have some reinforcements as defender Clarence Goodson was added to the squad and goalkeeper Kevin Hartman was also brought in after an injury to GK Zack Thornton.
And finally, the U.S. Men’s final game before they head to South Africa will be against Turkey in Philadelphia on May 29.

Thanks for the updates, Nick! To anyone who hasn’t seen a preseason game at Bradenton, go! I saw D.C. United play Columbus play on Saturday and it was great to see players like Jaime Moreno and Frankie Hejduk that close up. One question Nick: do you think the Rowdies will go after another GK? Louis Crayton is training with KC, but they just signed a new starter and Danny Cepero was released by the Red Bulls on Friday and should be in the team’s price range. The team makeup looks great so far, but a rookie GK not drafted by the MLS and a former USL-2 GK, just don’t cut it.

I could certainly see the Rowdies carrying a third goalkeeper, and with the number of cuts that are going to get made over the next two-to-three weeks from MLS clubs, it will probably pay dividends to wait and see who is going to be available come March 1. Crayton, due to his local residency, would certainly be a good signing if he were to come available to the club.
I might also expect the club to sign one more defender as well. Currently the squad has six listed defenders, which seems a bit thin to me.

Thanks, Nick! You’re right about the MLS, without reserve teams, they are really limited as to how many players they can keep. I could see another defender since it looks like that’s where their focus is (they have a few defensive midfielders as well who could probably drop back if needed). Any word on Richard Jata as an extra offensive option? I know he shined in the combines and was surprised when he wasn’t signed.
