After two seasons, Kent Reed has resigned as head football coach at Ridgewood.
“We’re looking for a new football coach as of right now,” Ridgewood principal Andy Frelick said. “Kent (Reed) informed us (Tuesday) that he would be stepping down as football coach due to personal reasons. He had a good report with the kids on the football team. We’re going to have the opening posted for two weeks and were looking to make it a wide open search for a head coach.”
Reed could not be reached immediately for comment.
Reed took over the Ridgewood head football position in 2010, after former Rams coach Chris Taylor was hired as the inaugural coach at Fivay. A longtime assistant on Taylor’s previous staffs, Reed was hired to be Ridgewood’s next coach and in two seasons, he compiled a 5-15 record, with a 4-6 campaign in 2010 being the better of the two years.
Reed is also the weightlifiting coach at Ridgewood and no information has been given on whether he will continue on with that position.
