Rays @ Yankees

NEW YORK David Price’s equipment didn’t arrive at Yankee Stadium with the team, forcing the Rays all-star pitcher to borrow pants, sliding pants, socks and an undershirt from Reid Brignac and wear a James Shields batting practice jersey during BP.

Sean Rodriguez didn’t arrive at all because of a fire sprinkler mishap at his condo that caused flooding and forced manager Joe Maddon to change his lineup, moving Gabe Kapler to right field and right fielder Ben Zobrist to second base. S-Rod is expected to reach Yankee Stadium sometime tonight.

Nothing like a smooth start to the second half of the season.

Then there are the Yankees, who will mourn the death of owner George Steinbrenner before tonight’s game with a video tribute.

The Rays start the second half two games back of the Yankees. Maddon expects Shields to turn things around during the second half and tonight would be as good a time as any to start.
