PORT CHARLOTTE - Matt Joyce hit a bases-loaded fly ball of a drawn in right fielder to score Eliot Johnson in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Rays won their home spring opener against the Orioles, 6-5.
Jeff Niemann started for the Rays and allowed a lead-off home run to Felix Pie but retired the other six batters he faced. Sean Rodriguez hit a home run for Tampa Bay for the second consecutive day.
