ST. PETERSBURG The Rays are without Carlos Pena (sore right foot) and Ben Zobrist (lower back stiffness) which means their bench consists of Matt Joyce and John Jaso.
Sean Rodriguez, who made his major league debut at first base Saturday, will get his first career start today.
Gabe Kapler is in right in an effort to get as many right-handed bats as possible in the lineup against Yankees lefty CC Sabathia.
Unless he enters the game as a pinch-hitter, Alex Rodriguez won’t get home run No. 600 today. He’s not in the starting lineup.
