ST. PETERSBURG The Rays will try to finish this season-long 11-game homestand on a good note with a win this afternoon against the Twins.
It’s camp day here at the Trop so it is LOUD.
A win and the Rays inch ahead of the Yankees for first place in the AL East by half a game since the Bombers are off.
Carlos Pena put his injured right foot through some drills on the field this morning. He gave himself a thumbs-up and said he is up for a pinch-hit appearance if manager Joe Maddon needs him.
Andy Sonnanstine will put his balky hamstring to the test tonight during a rehab start at Port Charlotte with the Stone Crabs. Sonny is scheduled to come off the disabled list Saturday and Maddon said he is likely to rejoin the team that day.
