ST. PETERSBURG The Padres are making their third trip to the Trop, the most by any NL West team.
San Diego leads the all-time series 5-4, having won two of three during each of their first two trips to Tampa Bay.
Dioner Navarro is behind the plate as manager Joe Maddon tries to slow the Padres running game.
In other news: Maddon will stick with the familiar rotation, meaning James Shields will take his scheduled start Wednesday night.
