ST. PETERSBURG—Carlos Pena homered in the bottom of the first to set the franchise record for consecutive games with a home run at six.
He tied Jose Canseco during Friday’s loss.
Pena is also the first player to hit home runs in six consecutive games since Frank Thomas in 2006.
The major league record for homers in consecutive games is eight, set by Dale Long in 1956 and tied by Don Mattingly (1987) and Ken Griffey Jr. (1993).
Crawford homered with one out to tie the score at 1-1 and Pena put the Rays ahead one out later.

East Lake High product Chris Coghlan tripled to start the game. That’s five hits in seven plate appearances during the first 10 innings of this series. He’s hotter than a June bug in July. Or something like that.
The Rays have to win to avoid dropping into a tie for first place with the Yankees, who beat up on the Astros again.
