ST. PETERSBURG The Rays open a three-game series against the Red Sox tonight at the Trop without center fielder B.J. Upton.

Upton is batting .077 for his career against Dice-K. Aybar is batting .333 and Joyce has a .250 average against the right-hander.
Maddon said Upton will play the rest of the homestand.
