ROGER MOONEY
ST. PETERSBURG There will be no pitching around David Ortiz tonight. Kevin Youkilis is back in the lineup.
Youkilis said after Tuesday’s game that the cramp in his right ankle which forced him out of the game at the start of the fourth inning would not keep him out of tonight’s game and he was right.
With Youkilis gone, the Rays intentionally walked Big Papi three times to get to rookie Niuman Romero, who was 0-for-3.
The Rays go for the sweep tonight against their division rivals, and they do it with their best pitcher on the mound.
David Price is 11-4 with a 2.42 ERA. He’ll pitch in his first All-Star Game on Tuesday. He couldn’t even be the starter.
Rays manager Joe Maddon continues to juggle his batting order, this time moving second baseman Sean Rodriguez to fifth. S-Rod has an eight-game hitting streak, batting .417 during the streak.
