ST. PETERSBURG You can bet more than a few eyes will be on Boston this weekend, where the Yankees and Red Sox meet for a three-game series.
Both teams are tied atop the AL East, so the Rays can make up ground on someone providing, of course, they take care of business against the A’s, who visit the Trop this weekend.
The Rays begin the night 10 games back of both teams for both the division and Wild Card leads.
The Rays have won five of their last seven. The A’s have lost five of their last seven.
Jeff Niemann, 3-0 with a 1.06 ERA in five July starts, takes the mound tonight for the Rays. He’ll be opposed by righty Guillermo Moscoso, who is 1-1 with a 7.31 ERA in his last three starts.
The Rays dropped the first three last week against the A’s before rallying for a 10-8 win in the series finale. That was their first of the five wins during this recent stretch of winning baseball.
The Go-Go’s kickoff their “Ladies Gone Wild” tour tonight with a post-game concert.
