Evan Longoria is in the lineup today against the visiting Twins, making this the first time he will play on back-to-back days this spring.

The third baseman, who doesn’t want to push his left hamstring too hard this early in camp, said the plan for the spring calls for him to receive at least 50 at-bats, maybe more if his leg feels fine and he wants to play deeper into a game.

“I feel pretty good right now,” Longoria said this morning, “and I feel after another 40 at-bats I’ll be where I want to be.”

Longoria will not play Monday when the Rays travel to Fort Myers to play the Red Sox. He is expected to play Tuesday when the Rays take another trip south on Interstate-75 to Fort Myers to play the Twins.

The Rays are off Wednesday, and manager Joe Maddon said Longoria won’t play Thursday against the Pirates in Bradenton so he can get two days off. Longoria will play Friday against the visiting Phillies.

David Price makes his second start of the spring this afternoon.
