MINNEAPOLIS - Carlos Pena will not start today against the Twins but could be in the lineup should the Rays chase Twins lefty Francisco Liriano.
Pena’s who average is down to .196, is batting .167 against Liriano. Pena is batting .174 against lefties this season.
Ben Zobrist will make his third start at first base this season. A good sign? Perhaps. The Rays are 2-0 with Zobrist at first.
B.J. Upton returns to center field, confident his right quad is no longer an issue. He strained it Tuesday and feels missing the next three days helped him avoid a stay in the DL had he kept playing and made it worse.
Rays starter Wade Davis, 0-5 with a 6.00 ERA in five June starts, is hoping July is a little kinder.
